Course commencing 26th of August 2010.
Sense of Place-Sense of Self
A Genogram is a map of the family system that offers a framework to understand family patterns. This course offers the opportunity for participants to discover their own family history and create a visual representation of important aspects of their family system. During the course participants will:
- Research Family History
- Clarify family values, beliefs, attitudes, standards and ideals
- Ascertain religious, cultural, socioeconomic, political and migration history
- Identify mental health issues, addictions and illnesses
- Recognise qualities, virtues, merits and achievements
- Gain deeper insight into intergenerational relationship dynamics
This course is for anyone interested in discovering their place in their family system. You do not need to have much knowledge about your family yet and even if you think there is not enough information available to start this process you will find that much surfaces once research begins. An additional session is available for people in the helping profession to learn the clinical use of genograms. You will learn how to research and present your genogram in the safety of a mutually supportive group environment.
